Young children are fascinated with exploring and the outside environment. One of the most important ways our children learn is by getting out into the world and exploring! Using real objects as toys is a great way to encourage creative exploration. Children of all ages can benefit from – and really enjoy – using real objects as toys, but when children are in the initial stages of learning to identify and name objects, it is especially beneficial.

We all know that young children learn through watching the world around them. But did you also know that your child, no matter what age are always learning by observing your behaviour? Your child learns by imagining and doing. Have you ever watched your child pick up a stone and pretend it is a spaceship, or made bunny ears with their fingers and hopped across the living room? In the midst of creating a cafe together, clomping around in grown-up shoes, or twirling around with friends in a fairy tale land, your child is learning to solve problems, coordinate, cooperate, and think flexibly.
